I am a Miami DUI lawyer and Miami Criminal Lawyer with more than 30 years of experience and am a specialist in the field of DUI. At the start of my career, I represented the State of Florida in felony prosecutions in cases ranging from DUI to murder, serving as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami-Dade County from 1981 to 1984. I then worked as the Senior Trial Attorney at Essen & Essen, P.A. until 1992, when I opened my own defense firm - Jonathan Blecher, P.A. In addition to my legal practice, I have led seminars instructing attorneys regarding DUI defense and given lectures on courtroom procedure for police officers at the Miami-Dade County Police Academy. I also speak to various professional and civic groups about DUI defense and criminal law practice.
I take a holistic approach to my cases, not only working towards a great result on the criminal side, but attending to other issues that flow from the arrest.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
There's many moving parts to any criminal case. I try to take a holistic approach with my clients, by addressing the client's expectations, goals and needs. It's very important to establish trust and confidence at an early stage, as most people have never been immersed in the criminal justice system before.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a former prosecutor and have lectured police trainees in courtroom procedure. I've delivered dozens of talks and semiars on criminal law and DUI, and I'm a member of the National College for DUI Defense.
