I focus on women who have trauma histories, anxiety symptoms, depressive symptoms, mood regulation issues, addictive behavior patterns, problems with anger control, unhealthy relationship patterns, and problems in their connections with others (E.g. loving too much or feeling emotionally numb). I work with my clients to develop individual treatment goals directed at enabling them to have a more fulfilling, rewarding, and productive life. I use evidence-based interventions to include psychotherapy, family therapy, neurofeedback therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy, Auricular Acupuncture, and Hypnotherapy. I use a mind-body approach in helping my clients.
I started in this career field after retiring from the Army in 2010. In 2005 - 2007 while in the Army I coordinated the care of and advocated for victims of sexual assault. This experience changed my professional future, I changed my graduate studies from business to counseling. I graduated with a Masters of Arts Degree in Community Counseling from Argosy University in 2012. I feel very grateful that I found my calling and can now work to help others. During my internship from 2011 - 2012 I worked with adults with co-occurring disorders, in an intensive outpatient program. After finishing my graduate degree in 2012 I worked for Prince William County providing intensive in-home services to at-risk youth and families. I saw trauma as an underlying issue in most of my cases. I focused my ongoing education on learning more about treating trauma, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and anger management.
