I provide proven tools to strengthen relationships.
Thank you for considering Masterful Couples of Northern Virginia for relationship support. As a Certified Gottman Couples Therapist, my commitment is to help couples build stronger friendships, manage differences respectfully, and support your hopes and dreams. I understand, above all, that every individual is capable of and deserves compassion and empathy and, therefore, greater love and health in your relationships.
I thoroughly enjoy learning from and helping towards the development and evolution of co-leader intimate relationships. This is such an exciting profession to be a part of and to see the growth and transformations occur between two individuals is one of the great rewards of my life.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer a free telephone consultation prior to initial session for all new clients to discuss your questions, my approach and process. This allows both the couple and the counselor to determine if this practice is right for you before starting counseling and before any payment is made.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My couples training and certification are from the Gottman Relationship Institute in Seattle that integrates leading-edge research on relationships into practical, down-to-earth counseling for couples. I completed Drs. Edward Hallowell and John Ratey’s course in “ADD in 2005” and Dr. Daniel Amen’s “Breaking Free” program in anxiety and depression. I also have extensive experience in stepfamily transitions and in my personal life I am a stepparent.
With honors, I received a Master’s in Education and Human Development from The George Washington University and a Bachelor’s in Nonviolent Conflict and Change from Syracuse University. I began my work in problem solving and perpetual conflict management in 1991 and clinical work in 1999.
