Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We offer a no-obligation telephone or in-office consultation. At that time, you will speak with one of our professional and qualified attorneys regarding your legal matter to tell your story and ask your questions. He/She will then ask you pertinent and important questions, leading you to explain more about your case.
At this time as well, we will speak with you about attorney fees and any court costs. Unfortunately, especially for family law matters, there is NO way to give you an estimate or a set price. With family law there are too many variables, so please be careful with any attorneys who say they can.
If you like what you hear and you feel confident with the attorney that you spoke with and wanted to move forward, you would then fill out an intake sheet and go over the fee agreement with the attorney (we are very transparent), pay the initial retainer fee and sign the fee agreement.
Remember, a retainer fee is money UNEARNED and it goes into a trust account for you. That means, it's still your money - the retainer protects you and the attorney. If for any reason, say a week or two weeks from the time you hired the attorney, and you decide you no longer want this, your money is returned to you minus any fees for work that have been performed, if any.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Randy Corporon went on to take his Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) and graduated from Colorado College in May of 1995 with a BA in English and a Minor in the Arts and Architecture of London and Florence. Randy was admitted to both in-state law schools plus others but chose the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. At DU, he was on both the trial and appellate advocacy teams, competing nationwide, won the award for best legal brief, and argued in front of a panel including U.S. Supreme Court Justice Byron White and Colorado Supreme Court Chief Justice Rebecca Love Kourlis with an audience of over 200 people in the final of an in-school competition. Randy worked in the Student Law Office for two years, including dealing with a death row inmate and handling court appearances with supervision.
He graduated from DU in May of 1998, passed the Bar Exam that Fall, and opened his private practice on November 1, 1998. Randy’s practice has continued to flourish and grow, with now five attorneys, two paralegals, two legal assistants, and a Director of Administration and Marketing.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
With the varying practices that we serve, there is really no standard pricing system. There are too many variables in most cases regarding family law and criminal defense. However, with DUI's and/or DWAI's, we can give an estimate of about $2500 - sometimes it can be less, sometimes it can cost more; it all depends on the issue at hand and what the client wants to do. With personal injury and Civil litigation, these are usually handled on contingency, but again, there are expenses that happen along the case and those are the client's responsibility in some cases - again, so many variables. But we are always transparent with our billing and welcome any questions our client might have.
