About

I understand that when going through a difficult situation, it may feel overwhelming and endless. But I also know that with the right support and treatment, individuals, couples, and families can be empowered to better handle life challenges. Whether it is the loss of a loved one, the beginning or end of a relationship, a mental health disorder, family conflict, or any other life challenging event, know that there is hope. I use proven techniques in cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness to help my clients create change toward reaching their therapy goals in a safe and confidential environment.

I love being a therapist. It is amazing to see how therapy has the ability to transform someone's life for the better. In particular, I really enjoy working with couples and watching their relationship become happier and healthier. For such reason, I specialize in couples and I am also a certified premarital counselor.

    Frequently asked questions

First, I offer a free phone consultation to discuss the process of therapy and answer any questions my Client may have. On the first appointment, we go over the appropriate forms, I answer any additional questions that may have come up, and I provide a safe and empathetic space for my Client to share his or her reason for seeking therapy support. Then, we set goals for therapy and the healing and growing process begins.

I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) licensed therapist. I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy. Over the last seven years, I been employed by nonprofit programs, where I have assisted people with chronic and severe mental illness, such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression, and anxiety, to name a few. Additionally, I have a private practice, where I support individuals, couples, and families to better manage personal challenges or relational concerns that may arise from a loss or a new life stressor. I am also a certified instructor for the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and I teach for Interfaith Community Services. I am an active member of the community by presenting topics on mental health to faith-based leaders and teaching mental health professionals about spirituality. I also specialize in couples therapy and have a certification to provide premarital counseling.

My regular fee is $90 per a one-hour session. Additionally, I have a couple of sliding scale fees for those going through a financial hardship and that otherwise would not be able to receive therapy support. While I do not take private insurance, I be happy to provide a superbill for those with a PPO type of insurance.

I have always loved making a difference in other’s lives. Being a therapist has provided a wonderful way to support others, in one of the most important areas for humans, matters of the heart and personal growth.

Through nonprofit agencies, I have worked with adults experiencing chronic and seve mental illness, that gets in the way of their level of functioning. In my private practice, I work with adults who are experiencing personal or relationship issues, such as going through an infidelity, divorce, wanting to heal from emotional pain, or simply wanting support in reaching personal goals. Additionally, through providing premarital counseling, I assist couples wanting to start a married journey together. I am also experienced in incorporating spirituality, as appropriate, in the process of therapy.

I am definitely pleased to have supported a young Chrisitan couple in ironing out and strengthening several areas of their relationship before getting married. There is such a joy in contributing to make a difference in someone’s life's new chapter.

I would suggest starting with a free consultation to ask about the therapist’s experience with the particular situation to be addressed. Also keep in mind location, schedule availability, price, and most importantly, I would ask myself if the therapist I am considering, feels or seems like the type of person I would want to work with. With that last said, keep in mind that in some cases, it may take up to a couple of sessions before starting to build a relationship with a new therapist.

First, as we know, we should seek immediate help when anyone’s life is in danger by calling 911. However, when considering talking to a professional about a non-life-threatening issue, it would be useful to make a list of what we consider the problem to be, what has been tried already to improve the situation, and what we would want as a result of the professional’s support.
