Joseph Chun is a personal injury attorney admitted to the State Bar of California, and the Northern, Eastern, Central, and Southern Districts of California. Joseph attended UC Davis School of Law, where he served as Law Review Editor and earned various academic distinctions, including the Top Oral Advocate Award and a Witkin Award for academic excellence. Joseph gained his first trial experience in federal court while still in law school as a member of the Civil Rights Clinic.
Upon passing the California Bar Exam, Joseph worked in San Francisco at a large national firm, previously recognized as one of the 40 largest firms in the United States. While he honed his litigation skills representing Fortune 500 Companies, he realized his calling was to represent individuals and eventually started his own practice. Joseph has appeared before federal and state court judges throughout California. In addition to practicing law, he served on the faculty at the California School of Law, where he taught courses in evidence and civil procedure. He also served as President (Davis Chapter) of Phi Delta Phi, the International Legal Honor Society, and has Lifetime Membership status with MENSA, which requires a score at or above the 98th percentile on IQ/intelligence tests.
When not practicing law, Joseph enjoys meditation, martial arts, playing blues harmonica, and spending time with his family and dogs.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The typical process is to start the case off with a conversation about what you as the customer are looking for and what you hope to get out of hiring a lawyer. I am straightforward and honest about whether I think we would be a good fit.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Joseph graduated from a top tier ranked law school (UC Davis School of Law), where he earned numerous honors and academic distinctions. At UC Davis Law School, he also helped teach classes in legal research and legal writing.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
While generally, the fees are 33% pre-litigation and 40% if a lawsuit is filed, in certain circumstances, fees can be reduced down to 25% (for example, if you have legal insurance through your employer).
How did you get started in this business?
Joseph started his career working as a defense attorney for one of the state's largest law firms, where Joseph helped represent some of the biggest insurance companies. While the experience proved invaluable, Joseph quickly realized that at his heart, he was a plaintiff's attorney. Joseph wanted to use his experience and education fighting for injured parties against large insurance companies and soon after, started his personal injury practice.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have represented a large range of clients, including injured individuals, families, senior citizens, professionals, disabled individuals, minors, Fortune 500 companies, and many who had never hired an attorney before working with me.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
At the end of the day, it is all about the right fit. Speak to the actual attorney who would be handling your case, and not simply to a secretary, paralegal, or staff.
