Bettina Yanez is a Certified Family Law Specialist practicing family law in Orange County & Los Angeles since 2000. She is the owner of Yanez & Associates Divorce & Family Law Attorneys Orange County. She holds a degree in psychology from Pitzer College and a Juris Doctor from Western State University of Law.
The Superior Court of California, County of Orange appoints Bettina to provide legal representation for minor child(ren) of parties and parents who have found to be indigent. She is approved for appointment in the following panels: Minor's Counsel, Termination of Parental Rights, Family Law Contempt and Paternity.
As minor's counsel she functions in a dual role, as the voice of the child and as a Friend of the Court. She can present evidence to the Court once it gets to trial, but otherwise acts as an advocate for the child. Moreover, in the family law contempt panel she serves as an assistant public defender in contempt cases where parents are facing jail-time for failing to pay their child support.
Many of her clients describe her as an honest, assertive, "NO-BS" attorney that tells it like it is. She is very active in multiple organizations and believes in making time to give back to the community, both in giving of ones time and monetary means.
Bettina understands that divorce and family law issues have long-term effects on all family members, especially the children. As a child Bettina experienced the pain of divorce when her parents decided to dissolve their marriage. Therefore she knows and understands the pain and guilt children may be experiencing; therefore, she draws from her personal experience to better help her young clients involved in complex and highly contested custody cases. When appointed as minor's counsel, Bettina takes special interest in her young clients in order to ensure that their rights are paramount.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The firm offers a free 30 minute consultation where the client is able to ask questions and get to meet the family law attorney. The client is to bring all documents to their consultation in order to review and advise the potential client of the scope of the case.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
The firm is fully staffed and the client is only charged based on which staff member works on the case. In other words if the paralegal works on the documents, the client will only be charged based on the hourly rate of the paralegal, not the attorney's hourly rate. This allows the clients dollar to stretch.
How did you get started in this business?
The firm was previously based in Anaheim. The Law Firm relocated to Santa Ana, then Tustin, California in 2007. The family law offices are now located in Orange, CA, two blocks south of the Orange family law courthouse.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Clients dealing witht he following types of family law cases. Divorce, child custody, child support, legal separation, domestic violence, restaining orders/ protective orders, fathers' rights, grandparents' rights, modifications, adoptions, termination of parental rights, same sex divorces and much more.
