The Law Offices of the Immigration Professor is staffed by three attorneys who have over 50 years of combined experience. Attorney Robert Perkins, who runs the practice, has been practicing immigration law exclusively since 1993 and can often come up with immigration solutions when others cannot. The office can handle complicated immigration cases and also specializes in filing simpler cases quickly and efficiently.
I enjoy plotting out successful immigration strategies for our clients and also empowering them with information about how immigration works so they feel less stressed out.
I hired Robert (“Bob”) Perkins around 15 years ago to help me get my H-1B and eventually my green card through my employer. Bob was excellent and really got into the guts of my case. During the process I was really happy that we have became friends and would often have a coffee together... Even after I got my green card we stayed friends. Bob eventually helped my wife to immigrate here and helped both of us naturalize and become citizens. I can't imagine going through such a difficult, arduous, and consuming endeavor with anyone other than Bob! I am very grateful to have Bob both as an immigration lawyer and friend. During the process Bob is very responsive and professional and my wife and I have always felt well cared for by him. I highly recommend Bob for anyone seeking help navigating the crazy maze of the American immigration system.
Typically we do an initial consultation to map out a strategy for the client and also go through what the process entails -- how long does the process take, what documents they may need, is there a personal interview, are there obstacles to success, and how we can overcome those obstacles. As part of the consultation, we give the client a price quote. As we understand attorneys fees can be expensive for most people, we can often give the client a payment plan over several months. The client then signs our retainer agreement online and we get to work with them getting the information and required documents to file with the immigration service.
I have been a lawyer for 31 years since 1989 and have been practicing exclusively immigration law since 1994. I also taught immigration law as an adjunct professor at the University of Illinois Law School.
