About

Hello! I am glad that you have stopped by. You are no doubt here because you are experiencing distress in your life at this time. It may be relationship problems or internal problems like depression, anxiety, anger, or other emotional and mental issues. I hope you are looking for more than a quick fix. Quick fixes are often short-lived and don’t get to the root of the problem.

Whatever your concerns, I would be privileged to listen compassionately and work with you in unpacking your story. Our stories are incredibly important and impactful. It is in our stories that our problems have most often taken root. Our experiences in life from birth forward create who we are today. This is especially true in our relationships.

It is for these reasons that I practice therapy from an attachment theory base. Attachment theory basically posits that we are profoundly shaped by our relationships from birth forward and they effect our entire development and along with our inborn temperament make us who we are. So, yes, we will need to do some exploration of your story and of your past. I know that that can feel scary but it is so important and I will be right alongside of you to care for you in that journey. for more information about myself and my practice please visit my website at johndeyo.com

Blessings!

I love connecting with people and hearing their stories and helping them understand and tell their stories more clearly and with more compassion. Connecting the dots of our lives Has tremendous power to not only grant us insight but the power to change things. It is very rewarding to see people break free from lies and misconceptions that have held them back for years.

    Frequently asked questions

Once we connect I by phone, text or email and and determine if we seem like a good fit we can set up an initial appointment.

At that time I will send you an Informed Consent document to read and sign as well as a Personal Information Form to complete.

Our first and most important task is to establish a good raport, get a clear picture of the issue(s) you want to address, and set some clear goals for your therapy.

I like to begin with weekly appointments at least to start out so that we can gain some traction in therapy. We can talk about less frequent sessions when that seems appropriate.

I may ask you to complete some exercises or view/listen to outside resources to help you.

I have an MA in Clinical Psychology: Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific University in Azusa CA and an undergraduate degree in Christan Ministries from University of Northwestern in St Paul MN.

I am licenced as a Marriage and Family Therapist and as a Professional Clinical Counselor in the state of California.

    FEES:

OFFICE sessions (1 hour) $150 (sliding fee scale available to those who qualify).

TELEMEDICINE: (phone or online video) $75

I do not accept insurance but if you have a PPO plan they may reimburse you directly for part of the cost.

I grew up in a home that would have greatly benefited from the help and resources offered by family and individual therapy. I have always held a high interest in this area of human behavior and personal growth. I completed my graduate study work in mid life and became a marriage and family therapist.

I have worked with lots of different kinds of clients and lots of different kinds of issues. My focus areas include working with couple relationships, young adults, and seniors from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds. I also like to explore faith issues with clients if they are interested in doing so.
