    Frequently asked questions

I typically offer a free consulation call to access their primary concern. I would never attempt to work with anyone that was beyond me expertise.

If they fit within my expertise I proceed with an assessment to determine symptoms, behaviors, past professional experiences, any mental health diagnosis, medications, hospitalizations.

After determining past professional and outcomes I proceed to narrowing down most pressing symptoms, concerns or behaviors.

I started out as a Journalist and saw the devistation occuring with substance abuse. I left current field and pursued education in that field. I worked in drunk driving and hospital and private addiction program for 12 years before realizing I could do more.

In 1990 while pursuing MSW I realized I could do more by entering Clinical, Medical field as a Licensed Registered Nurse, always in mind that I would work in Psychiatric Nursing rather than Medical but I still had to complete all Medical requirements as well.

With Psych background and my RN education and passing my Calif Boards I worked first in a Substance Abuse Hospital where I was previously a Counselor.  I was a new grad and since no one else wanted the job I eagerly became the Charge Nurse on Gay and Lesbian Substance Abuse Unit. Between administering 80% of males who had AIDS their IV Anti-Viral Cocktails and managing mental health needs I found it the best "experience by fire" that anyone could have hoped for

I have continued to add education to my 35 years of experience in nearly every area of mental health.

I have worked in private practice (still do), Psychiatric Lock Unit Hospitals, Substance Abuse Public and Private, Opened my own Recovery Center in 2010.

In past months my private practice is focusing on couples and families struggling with a range of issues due to the pandemic.

All Ages. More so Adults with significant numbers of Seniors and Their families.

I do indiv and family counseling

I use Hypnotherapy in cases with phobias, eating disorders, anger, fears and children with ADHD, insomniacs, anxiety, dreamers

I am a Clinical Geriatric Mental Health Specialist with extensive knowledge of Alzheimers, Dementia and other late life maladies. Families often suffer more than patient, with fear and guilt and indecision regarding elder care.

I have complete knowledge and experience with all Mental Health Medications and often work closely with MD and Psychiatrists to insure patient care.

I've done Psychiatric Nursing Home Health, calling upon Patients who were recently discharged from in-patient care who need follow up assessment.  My recommendation to docs is taken serious because of my reputation as an expert in crisis situations

Last week a 17 years old client was suffering from low self-esteem, fear of the future, inability to communicate with very "strict" parents and demonstrated symptoms of possible self harm.  After assessing I recorded an audio for her combining hypnosis, suggestion therapy and relaxtion. I checked on her wellbeing every day and at the end of a week she was asking me to help her reach some future goals.

Make sure you feel safe and comfortable. Ask to see credentials if they are not posted.  Ask to talk to previous clients or verify testimonials.

How to you feel in session, can prof. repeat what you just said.  Very, very important is how do you feel at end of 1st session.  If you don't feel closer to resolving your issue then you probably never will.  their has to be a plan specific to your problems.

If prof tells you that it will take quite awhile and many sessions run away as fast as you can.  This is a professional listener and not a professional solution based practitioner.
