About
Israel & Gerity, PLLC is a full-service estate planning, probate, and business planning law firm. We help families plan ahead to protect their assets during their lifetime and preserve them in the case of death or disability.
We are recognized as leaders and innovators in assisting our clients with sound estate plans, guiding business owners with their succession plans to protect assets from creditors and other predators, helping clients qualify for benefits, and helping loved ones during the difficult time after you pass.
Our founding attorney, Michael Gerity, has more than 25 years of experience in Arizona. He is also licensed in Colorado and with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Our team of attorneys, dedicated paralegals and experienced staff work to help clients achieve peace of mind, knowing they have done everything they can to protect their families and loved ones.
After spending many years as a successful business litigation attorney, I really wanted to focus my work on keeping people out of legal problems instead of battling to fix the problems after things were already broken. Nearly every litigation case I ever handled came with a host of issues that could have been easily avoided (or at least improved) by careful and proper legal planning in advance.
Now, I spend my time doing just that. I get to help people to put beautifully-crafted plans in place that serve not only to avoid future legal problems, but also to preserve my clients' true legacies, so that they can pass along far more than their possessions and money to their heirs and future generations. This work brings my clients huge relief from the burden of worrying about their legacy, and brings me tremendous satisfaction to provide that service, and to develop life-long relationships with my clients.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We first need to establish that the case is of the type that we handle, and that we are a good fit for the client. So, we need to get some basic information about the case, and then we like to let the client know a bit about us. If we both decide to move forward, we have to go through some technical requirements, like running a conflict check and getting a written engagement letter in place.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Juris Doctor degree in addition to my Bachelor of Science degree. Those are the required educational degrees in order to becoome licensed to practice law. I am then admitted to practice before the bars of Arizona, Colorado, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
We handle many different types of cases with different fee structures. Some work (like estate planning, trademark applicaations, entity formations and bankruptcies) are generally done with a flat fee, paid up front. Other areas simply have to be done with an hourly fee arrangement, as there is no way to realistically estimate the amount of work the case will require, like with any form of litigation.
How did you get started in this business?
I got my BS degree and then went to law school. After that, I studied for the bar exam, and became admitted in Arizona. Later, I studied for a very difficult bar exam to become admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Tradmark Office, and also became admitted in Colorado.
Since then, I have been practicing law for over 25 years.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We have worked with all kinds of clients, but the most common clients would be individuals and small businesses.
