How did you get started in this business?
I worked as a public accountant for a large oil and gas company for 25 years. During the course of that time I prepared my own taxes. From there family and friends started asking me to help them with their taxes. They then started referring their friends and co-workers. At that point I decided to start my business.
After a few years it was becoming difficult to work a full time job and my business so for 3 years I planned my exit strategy from the company I worked for and in 2014 launched my business full time. Soon I was getting small business tax clients and some of those customers had other needs such as for bookkeeping and payroll and it was those clients who got me started in the bookkeeping and payroll side of my business. This allowed them to have all their services to be provided by one company. My company.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently attended an Accounting and Bookkeeping Road Show hosted by Xero, a cloud-based accounting software platform for small and medium-sized businesses.
I was really excited to meet the support team that I speak to so often (I'm new to Xero). The event addressed the functionality of the platform and how to best use it in working with my clients books and managing my business. I learned so much and had fun at the same time.
From this event I took away gems of knowledge and fond realization that I had found the Accounting Software With Everything I Need To Run My Business Beautifully and Serve My Clients Eloquently.
