Counseling With Trish
About
I enjoy working with teens, individuals, and couples through anxiety, depression, stress and emotional regulation, communication challenges, negotiating home and work life, traumas, losses, or just hard times. It's important to find a counselor that you feel comfortable with.
I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) which has been shown to be effective in reducing strong emotions to triggers, usually in a shorter amount of time than other forms of therapy. Furthermore, the reprocessing (R) often generalizes across similar triggers.
I am also Gottman level 1 trained for couples therapy, and my education from B.H.Carroll Theological Institute gives me more insight to help with spiritual dissonance.
I hope you are able to get the help you need. I would be honored to work with you on your way to finding healing.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I first like to text or talk to the client to see if our schedules work together, discuss rates, and answer any questions you might have.
Then we set up an appointment, I email the paperwork to you to fill out, that you can email back, or if you are seeing me in person, you can bring it to the first appointment, or fill out a paper version before your first appointment. (Whatever you prefer).
If there is a minor involved whose parents are separated, I will need copies of court documents showing which guardian(s) must provide consent for treatment (preferably before the appointment).
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master’s degree in Counseling from B.H. Carroll Theological Institute and have trained further in several different therapy methods like Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Trauma Informed Therapy, Anger Management, Self-Esteem, and Gottman Couples Therapy.
I do continuous specific research to offer the most up-to-date, relevant, and customized experience for my clients.
I also receive supervision from a doctoral candidate Shawna Munson, LPC-S, LMFT.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
50 minute sessions are
$50 for teletherapy sessions before 3pm.
$60 for in person sessions before 3pm.
$75 for in-person session after 4pm.
75 minute sessions are 50% more.
How did you get started in this business?
My life growing up was not the easiest, and counseling helped me through that time and other challenging times in my life. When I was a teen, I felt called to help others then, but felt I needed to wait to counsel until I had more life experiences. Now I have many years of personal experiences in different jobs, marriage, raising three children while juggling a career, and making the difficult decision to give up my career to stay home when I had my third child. Then transitioning again into a new career after staying home. I have been in ministry at the church but wanted more opportunities. My hope when I counsel is to provide better, more sensitive, educational, and beneficial services than I felt I received sometimes.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with clients who are suffering from depression, anxiety, emotional regulation, trauma, and difficult circumstances and relationships.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am fond of being with my friends and family, and enjoying little things, like watching our cats and dog interact.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Find someone you feel you connect with. Someone who encourages, understands, remembers relevant important things, validates, and challenges you.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Counselors are going to ask you what you want to get out of counseling, or what your expectations or goals of counseling are. You might research what kind of help there is so you can describe what you think will work for you.
Sometimes questions about expectations and goals are hard to answer, but it will help the counselor know where they need to focus and help them structure the discussions and approaches around one or several goals to accomplish. A therapist can help you define at least one by your third session, and will likely keep asking until it is communicated. Once goals are communicated, you can change them if you don't feel they suite you anymore.
