About

We are a small firm with 2 attorneys. The attorneys in our office field all calls, prepare all of your paperwork, and are the ones who answer your questions when you have them. You will not be serviced by a legal assistant or paralegal. We enjoy helping our clients eliminate their debt problems and getting thank you reminders from them well after their cases have been concluded.

Mr. Derek explained everything to me about how the process will go during the consult and out of the 3 other attorneys I met with, Mr. Derek was the clearest to understand and most personable. He made me feel like a person, instead of just another form that needs to be signed. Thank you so much Mr. Derek!

    Frequently asked questions

Most of our initial review is done over the phone. With busy schedules for both myself and the customer, it is typically easier to conduct a one-on-one consultation over the phone. Once we've passed that hurdle, we either move forward with document submission electronically or in person. When the client's paperwork is ready, we conduct a thorough review and explanation with the client in our office to make sure the information is precise prior to filing.

I've been practicing bankruptcy law for the past 12+ years. My experience in this field is vast, as I have represented debtors in chapter 7, 11, 12, and 13 bankruptcies. I also spent a substantial portion of my first 5 years of bankruptcy practice representing chapter 7 trustees in liquidating assets of a debtor's bankruptcy estate. That experience has given me the perspective of being able to analyze a client's case not only from their perspective, but also how it will be viewed by the trustee to whom their case is presented to.

Our prices vary depending on the complexity of the case. However, cases that we consider "simple" are typically priced below our competitors.

Clients can also be expected to pay the Court filing fee, as well as small fees for the various courses required to file for bankruptcy.

This line of work chose me. I was a young attorney who recently passed the bar exam and obtained his law license. I saw a Craigslist post for a bankruptcy attorney at a start-up law firm and got the job. Eventually my attention to detail and excellent client service got the attention of one of the preeminent consumer bankruptcy firms in the Washington DC metroplex. I had presented numerous cases in front of 2 of the partners at their firm, and when they had an opening, they offered me a position. 5 years later I made partner there, but left shortly thereafter to move to DFW where my wife is from. I knew I had enough experience to start a bankruptcy firm myself, so I found the best and most knowledgeable consumer bankruptcy attorney I could find to partner up with. That's how Toronjo & Prosser Law was launched.

We work with all types of client ranging from those on fixed income to high annual incomes. Whether you're facing job loss, medical issues, foreclosure, repossession, etc., we've handled numerous of each of those types of cases before. Each case is different so we never assume one case is going to be identical to another. We also represent small business that may need to close by filing a business chapter 7 bankruptcy.

I can handle and input all the information for every case is appx. 2 hours or less. That means we can get things filed quickly if you have a need to. Each month we handle chapter 13 high income earner cases, fixed income eliminate credit card, medical debt, payday loan, etc. chapter 7 cases. From a consumer bankruptcy perspective we've handled just about every type of case you can imagine. We stop foreclosures on a monthly basis and get client's cars back after a repossession.

Be careful - low upfront or $0 down payments merely get you in the door. You should talk to or meet with more than 1 attorney prior to making your hiring decision.

Is my case considered easy or complex? Have you handled cases like mine before? Will an attorney be preparing my case? Will an attorney be available to answer questions before and during my case? Is my attorney available after normal business hours?
