I believe all people deserve to feel their best and realize their true potential. The individuals, couples, and families that come to me for therapy are down and out, riddled with anxiety and conflict, and looking for a new lease on life. Using my years of experience and training and a variety of specialized skills and techniques, I help each of my clients find the strength within to overcome these personal challenges. I partner with my clients to remove the obstacles to happiness and inner peace and to rediscover the lives they want to live and to live them vibrantly! I build strong therapeutic relationships with my clients and this relationship serves as the springboard for positive change.

I love to learn about people's stories and what makes them tick. Helping my clients through their struggles and seeing them realize their true potential is very gratifying. I especially like it when I see angry, wounded, and conflict-ridden individuals, couples, and families begin to enjoy healthier and more satisfying intimacy in their relationships once again.

I have been a patient of Mike Guglielmino now for maybe 10 years. During this time, I have always felt he was professional with a keen sense of how to help me understand what I was really feeling. He always contributed to my overall well-being by encouraging me to self-change. I feel my time with him has been very productive since I have been able to overcome many difficult issues within this time. He is concerned with my growing process with each visit. I would highly recommend Mr. Guglielmino as a therapist.

Ive been working with Mike (individual & group therapy) for over 10 years...he has calmly helped me navigate some of the most difficult transitions in my life. He has an uncanny ability to make you feel safe and yet capable of taking on all that is in front of you, even when it seems impossible.
He doesnt push you as much as he supports your growth. I have always felt understood and celebrated, which is what makes him so good at his chosen profession! He is committed to your growth. You are in it together, but he ends up coaxing YOU out, week after week.
I have also greatly benefited from group therapy work with Mike. He is keenly aware that much growth occurs while interacting with others vs one on one with a therapist.
Mikes well-rounded approach to therapy can be beneficial for many people. He is unique in the world of private practice therapists...he wants to see you move forward and take on new challenges.
Mike Guglielmino is an excellent partner in therapy. I cannot recommend him highly enough. You will be in good hands:-)

Frequently asked questions

I like to screen prospective clients by phone to determine whether I am the right therapist for the kinds of issues a client, couple, or family bring to me.  I normally am able to provide an appointment for an assessment within a few days of a phone screening.  After I complete a thorough assessment, which can take up to 3 visits, I collaborate with my clients in making a treatment plan, or I connect my clients with needed services.

I have an MSW from Rutgers and am licensed as a clinical social worker in New Jersey.  I participate in ongoing professional training to remain current with best practices.  I am a certified hypnotherapist and and have recently attended many workshops and trainings on trauma-focused therapy.

I am in several insurance networks: Horizon Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, and am participating with Medicare (Part B).  If I am not in a particular insurance network, I am open to single case agreements to keep costs manageable.  I provide sliding scale fees for those without insurance, or those who prefer not to use their insurance.

My sister experienced a mental health crisis when I was in college and this stimulated my interest in the field.  My first job was in a a day treatment program for people with mental illness and substance abuse problems.  There I learned I had a natural affinity for helping others.

Over my 30+ years of doing therapy, I have worked with a wide variety of people struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and addiction issues which contributed to related problems in their significant relationships.

I saw a couple that I was treating come to understand they were compatible and begin to reinvest in their marital relationship when they were at the precipice of separation. They were so grateful for the work I did with them and this really touched my heart.

The decision about therapy is an important one and selecting the right therapist is critical to the success of your therapy. Check out the background, qualifications, and experience of the therapist before you hire him or her. You should get a good feeling about the therapist through the way s/he responds to your request for service and during the initial telephone screening.

One of the most significant questions I believe a person seeking therapy should ask him/herself is why I want to see a female or a male therapist. Are you looking to be comfortable in therapy or to grow beyond what is uncomfortable for you? If you are a man or women that would feel more comfortable seeing a female therapist and are ready to address traumatic experiences and trust issues with men, it might be best to choose a competent male therapist who can help you to understand and work through your issues with men.
