About

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist who has been in practice for over fifteen years. I have experience as a special education teacher and public-school administrator. I have a wealth of experience providing progressive therapeutic strategies and interventions to change personal and/or family situations, solve problems, and/or simply bring a healthier balance to individuals’ lives. Being a single parent and working mom, I understand, firsthand, the joys and struggles of living in this society and parenting children today. I strive to accept everyone with a non-judgmental, client-centered attitude. I am skilled in working with adolescents ages 13 – 17, adults, couples, and families from all cultural backgrounds. My approach to counseling is based on cognitive behavioral therapy techniques, strength-based therapy techniques, solution focused therapy techniques, reality-based therapy techniques, and motivational interviewing. Some of the areas I commonly focus on in treatment include anxiety, depression, bi-polar disorder, trauma, sexual abuse, childhood abuse/neglect issues, relationship dysfunction, ADHD, childhood and adolescent behavior issues, substance abuse (alcohol and drugs), and various issues with people with disabilities. I am happy when I see my clients thrive and develop healthy attitudes about life.

I was struggling with addiction. Ms. Heidi was tough but she showed me love and kindness. She did not give up on me. She helped me find detox and then she provided outpatient therapy after I got sober. I am in recovery and seeing Ms. Heidi on a weekly basis. I am happy to have my life and my family back.

I like it that Ms. Heidi is a goo listener and she can relate to the hard times I have experienced in my life. I can talk to her about real life and she is honest with me even if I dont always want to hear the truth. I need to hear the truth.
