Boyd Allen, Counselor/Therapist
About
With several years of personal and professional experience working with recovery from pornography and problematic sexual behavior, I utilize a trauma-informed approach to treat anxiety, depression, PTSD, and process addictions. I hold a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Services from Evangel University, and received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Missouri State University. My specialties include anxiety, depression, recovery from pornography/sex addiction, treatment of trauma and PTSD, spiritual integration/recovery, and religious cult/abuse recovery.
When working with my clients on their core issues, I begin by asking them, “What happened to you?”, instead of, “What’s wrong with you?”, because I believe that once we know someone’s story, we can began to understand how we arrived at the point of crisis. Left untreated, past traumas can fester, and unfortunately these traumas often resurface later in life in ways that may seem unrelated: anxiety, depression, and addiction. When life becomes unmanageable, even the strongest and most resilient among us may need someone to come alongside us and help us sort through our stories. And once we sort through and understand our stories, we become empowered to start writing new and better ones...
