The Power In Parenting
About
The Power in Parenting (The PIP) is counseling from a Christian perspective.
The PIP helps empower families to work together and offers strategies and tips for parents struggling with challenging behaviors.
The PIP works to not only help parents become more confident but also helps those who may not have been parented well growing up. These clients are helped by working to overcome low self-worth and anxiety.
My passion is helping to strengthen individuals to be all they are created to be; to become future focused where there is hope, light, and freedom from that has happened to them in the past, which is holding them back.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First is getting comfortable. It’s really difficult to come in to a strange office and start talking about your struggles. I want to be sure we’re a good fit for each other.
If it’s a child I’m seeing, I want to see the parents first. It’s important that “parents” connect with me first. They are giving me the privilege of working with their child, but parents are the experts of their children and it’s important we all work together.
If it’s an adult, then we work together, gathering information and skills needed to help move my clients in an empowering direction.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling.
I am a Nationally Certified Counselor.
i am a Board-Certified Telemental Health Counselor (reserved for current clients).
I am a Licensed Professional Christian Counselor through AACT.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I’ve had parents come in wanting me to “fix their child’s behavior” and the end result was a complete shift in their colds behavior, yet I never saw the child! When we change how we parent, communicate, and respond to our children, the child’s behavior changes as a by-product (pass through) benefit!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Sometimes just small tweeks in our behaviors, thought processes and perspectives makes a HUGE difference moving forward!
