How did you get started in this business?
I went to school to do Human Services work. I spent over a decade working for a State Government offering social services and career counseling to people. I've received accolades in this work and enjoy helping people to meet their goals, find work, get healthier and become more productive citizens.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with people of all abilities. However I have also worked in specialties targeting those with traumatic brain injuries, chronic mental illness; including trauma, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, autism and more including those with past criminal records. I've worked with youth and adults and have found great success in this work.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
It feels great when an initial, basic goal is met. I made a plan with a client to simply land an interview. She'd been applying to jobs but couldn't even land an interview. We worked on tweaking the resume, cover letters, following up on leads, talking points, covered eye contact on Zoom and much more and she landed an interview! While she didn't get that specific job, she then had the confidence and know-how to now land an interview, which conquered her first basic goal and led her to another interview and a job she actually liked better! She's now happily employed! #WinWinWin
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Find someone that you are compatible with. Chemistry is important in every relationship. They should be as non-biased as possible and able to listen and offer progressive suggestions.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Most professionals should be willing to offer 10-15 minutes of their time to meet with you at no cost to help you determine if its a great fit. If you don't see this advertised; ask!
Keep your end of the bargain. If you agree on a day/time; show up! If you agree to do homework; do it! Be open minded and be willing to put the work in that is needed for you to grow and/or heal. Being honest with yourself as well as your coach/counselor is an important and required step. If you don't understand something or know why something is being suggested; ask!!!
