Cheer counseling has 5-10 experienced, licensed counselors available. We provide old-fashioned caring. Immediate appointments because you are too important to wait. It's amazing helping people and knowing that you have given them the skills and knowledge to have a better and happier life. When someone comes in crying and a few months later loves life, or when a couple come in talking about divorce, and then leave counseling because they are having a second honeymoon, it makes all the hard work worthwhile.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Client calls us. I try to find the best match related to clients age, problems, and available time. Calls are friendly, and there is no pressure to make an appointment if you just have questions. The whole process is simple and enjoyable.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Licensed mental health counselors, licensed marriage and family and licensed social workers. This entails 6 years of college, 2 years of supervised work and then passing a challenging test. Ongoing CEU's are required bi-yearly.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
$75-150 based on family income. Discounts for parents and caretakers. We accept insurance from people on a tight budget who could not otherwise afford our reduced rates.
How did you get started in this business?
When my children were small and my husband was very ill, I looked for counseling. I couldn't find an affordable, skilled counselor. I knew there was a need for client focused counseling and that I could fill that need.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I've been doing this for 20 years and just when I think I've heard it all, someone comes in with a unique story. Typically I work with adults and relationship problems, but other counselors in my office work with children, teens, and a wide range of problems. If you add all of us together, we have a combined experienced way over 100 years.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have very few vacations but this Christmas I will be meeting my family in New Orleans. The day they leave, my best friend will fly in to meet me and we will spend New Years Eve (my birthday) together. I'll tell you more next year!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Talk to them and decide if you get a good feeling and can be a good match together. After that, check that they are state licensed. There are people who pose as counselors who lack the qualifications and state credentials for this position.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What do you want to achieve from counseling? Its hard to get your needs met if you don't know what they are.
