Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I provide a FREE one-hour consultation to understand the scope of the project and answer the customer's questions. I also explain how eMarketing works (the marketing tripod), so they understand the process and what needs to be done.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The School of Art and Design: Advertising and Cartooning
University of Phoesnix: BSB-M | Business Administration and Marketing
Apprenticeship under Neal Maretineau of Ogilvy and Mather. Winner of multiple Ogilvy awards for advertising excellence.
Multiple ongoing education courses.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
My hourly service fee is $75 an hour. However, I typically work on a flat fee. I find this is best for the customer and me, as we understand the full scope of the project and there are no surprises.
A down payment of 50% is required to put the project in the queue, with the balance due upon completion.
How did you get started in this business?
After leaving Corporate America as a Vice President of Marketing and Training and Sales, I started Success by Design in the year 2000, no longer wanting to travel internationally for business.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I've worked with:
- Hollywood
- Authors
- Restaurants
- Attorneys
- Churches
- Consultants
- Financial Professionals
- Engineers
- Schools
- Insurance professionals
- Mom and Pop small businesses
- B2B and B2C
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Make sure whoever you hire can explain what they will do and how, clearly, without a bunch of industry jargon. If they cannot explain what the top three goals of your project are, and how he or she intends to achieve them, they do not know what they are doing. They are simply throwing something together with no strategic or tactical thinking.
As Einstein said, "If you can't explain it simply, you simply don't know."
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
They need to understand:
1. What makes them different? It cannot be price, quality or experience, as no one will say they are the expensive, bad quality with no experience company. It must be a differentiator, no matter how small.
2. What are you goals? While everyone wants #1 to be sales, most people DO NOT buy on the first visit. You need to be able to capture your visitor, to build a databse you own, to conitnue the conversation, so they don't forget you when they are ready to make a purchase.
3. What is it you want your visitor to do (if a website)? If you design a website simply to share information, it will fail. We can help you with this.
