Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We love new clients. We typically spend a few minutes on the phone with you getting a sense of your financial situation and getting to know you. There are different solutions for debt relief, and we want to make sure you are on the right path. We then get you scheduled for a detailed intake call, where we go through your finances and documents in detail. We can then get your petition for bankruptcy filed, and all the creditor calls will stop. We offer $0 down bankruptcy.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Amy Wilkins earned a juris doctorate from the University of Arizona in 2001, where she served as editor-in-chief of the Arizona Law Review and graduated Order of the Coif. She has practiced at national and regional law firms before starting The Wilkins Law Firm in 2012. She formed The Gavel as a sister firm to The Wilkins Law Firm in 2020. Amy is a member of Southwest Super Lawyers. Attorney Glen Work has been practicing in bankruptcy since 2009. He has represented hundreds of debtors in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcies. In addition, Glen represented Chapter 7 trustees in bankruptcy litigation. This valuable experience sets Glen apart from other bankruptcy lawyers; he can anticipate and avoid possible issues with bankruptcy as he has reviewed cases from the Trustee’s perspective. Glen graduated from the University of Tulsa College of Law, where he served as the Executive Editor of the Energy Law Journal.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
We have flat fees for most Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcies.
How did you get started in this business?
In 2012, Amy saw an opportunity to create a small firm where experienced lawyers could help clients and provide quality representation at a high level. After successfully building The Wilkins Law Firm, Amy started The Gavel to bring the same level of quality representation to clients needing bankruptcy and debt relief services.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Some bankruptcy firms rely very heavily on staff. You will talk to a salesperson to get started, provide your documents to staff, and never meet your lawyer until you go to court. We don't work like that. You'll have contact with your lawyer as soon as you sign up for your full intake meeting, and you can reach a lawyer to ask questions at any time. Our advice: don't rely on salespeople to help you through your important bankruptcy case. Rely on attorneys.
