Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I typically spend about 15 minutes to an hour communicating with the potential new client in whatever form the client prefers, phone, text, in person, or email to determine if it's a good fit. If it's tax work I ask for at least the prior year return, ask some questions about the current tax year, assess how long it will take me to prepare the returns and then provide the client with a flat fee for the return. If the client agrees, I proceed with preparing the tax returns.
For all other tax consulting, tax planning, accounting consulting, QuickBooks training or consulting or CFO/controller work, I usually have a standard hourly rate or I'm engaged under a retainer.
I work from a very small home office so I don't usually have clients come to my office. I usually work with them virtually over the phone and internet or I meet them at their home, place of business or a coffee shop. Whatever they prefer. I do have a secure portal for sharing documents.
