I currently only offer flat rate services dependent on the stage/case needs. This requires more details of the case in order to provide the fee..
How did you get started in this business?
I began as a paralegal and first started working for a criminal attorney and later bankruptcy.
I began as an independent paralegal in 2008 due to the needs of the public for legal assistance and an inability to afford attorneys.
Washington finally passed the Limited License Legal Technician program to meet the needs of the public in 2012. Due to personal reasons, I was delayed in being able to obtain this license and obtained it in January 2018.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I often work with agreed and contested divorces, custody/parenting matters, child support, protection orders and am now able to assist in minor guardianship matters with some limitations. I assist in starting cases, temporary orders, mediation, discovery, completion of matters, and preparing for trial when necessary.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was able to assist 3 clients in working toward an agreement in their parenting plan or divorce matters. I have also prepared clients for representing themselves in temporary orders and they have faced an attorney and have prevailed in most cases. While I do not appear in court, I prepare clients to represent themselves.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Do not hire an attorney at the start of your case. It will drain your finances unnecessarily and if you go to trial you will want those funds to have them represent you at trial. I am able to assist clients from the beginning up to preparing a client for trial.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What is your ultimate goal and it is it reasonable?
Are you prepared to stand up for yourself and to fight if necessary and are you prepared to go to trial to meet that goal?
Or do you intend to work toward an agreement and avoid trial?
If children are involved, what would be in the best interest of your child? A parenting plan will be required.
Child support is dependent on financials, individual facts will be considered.
If you are not working, you should anticipate the court imputing (determining) an amount of income you should be making to support your children.
Spousal maintenance is possible-dependent on your particular situation-know what you would need to live on to pay your expenses.
