How did you get started in this business?
Carol has been in the field of extending compassion and creating life-change for people and communities for over 25 years. She decided to become a therapist in her 30's because she LOVED the frontlines work of helping people create life-change that leads to greater freedom and empowerment to create a life of love and purpose. Through her own journey through the ups and downs of relationships, as well as her tendency to think strategically and see the big picture, she has gravitated towards working with couples and families because she sees that there is usually so much goodness there but real challenges that get in the way of people feeling loved or accepted. Carol believes that relationships are a key ingredient to people living fulfilling lives and so she has chosen to focus her business on empowering people to create loving, freeing relationships.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of people, couples and families. I have extensive experience working with co-dependency, eating disorders, enabling families and well-functioning couples who just want to get even better.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
It's important to sense that the therapist you choose to work with is willing to accept your values and understands you well. A person is more than a textbook, so a therapist can have all the head knowledge in the world about theory, but the key ingredient (according to research) for therapy to be beneficial is the sense of care and connection between a therapist and the client. You matter and you deserve to be seen and heard well.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
There are different approaches to therapy. Some therapists can give you surface advice for changing surface behaviors. If you are looking for a deeper change because you've tried different ideas and strategies but can't seem to stick with them long enough to make life-change, make sure your therapist is willing to go deeper with you too.
