I have been married to my wife for 43 years; a father of three and grandfather of 9; and a retired 26 year military officer who served in Iraq. In short, I have a lot of life experience to go along with my education and 10 years of counseling experience.

I have a tremendous amount of experience in leadership, arbitration and mediation, mentoring, team building, crisis management, marriage and family therapy, as well as cognitive and behavior therapy. As a military veteran who served in Iraq, Jay has personal knowledge of the special challenges our military veterans and their families endure. Jay has served the Lord as a Gideon, in numerous church leadership positions, in prison ministry through Prison Fellowship, and within the community as a coach of youth sports teams. Jay earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology and a Minor degree in Psychology from Florida State University, a Master of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University, and a Master of Science degree in Counseling from Capital Bible Seminary located in Lanham, Maryland.
I have earned the following certifications: Gottman Couples Method Training Levels 1,2,3 and training as a Gottman Seven Principles Leader; Certified Anger Management Specialist (Level III/Diplomat) from the Anger Management Society of America; Certified Christian Family Mediator through the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC); Certified Human Behavioral Consultant and Certified Human Behavioral Studies-Trainer Provider through the Insights Institute in Atlanta, Georgia. I have also completed training from the Beck Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in Cognitive Behavior Therapy for emotional disorders, personality disorders, treatment of children and adolescents, and persons suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD); and the Albert Ellis Institute in New York City in basic and advanced Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT); arbitration and mediation at the University of Southern California (USC); and crisis intervention training at Florida State University.
