Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new client?
First contact can be either phone, email, or on site meeting. I like to find out what the client expects me to do. What is their concern. Then in many cases I can also educate or inform them of other areas that they need to consider. We go from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Well, I am a CPA, but more than that, I bring practical experience. I worked for Xerox Corporation right out of high school refurbishing copier machines and I ran for Shop Steward for the local union on a totally merit system/work ethic platform opposing seniority based system for advancement. Lost by 3 votes. After the plant closed, I opted for college and paid my way through by painting a hanging wallpaper. After graduation I was hired by KPMG, a Big Six accounting firm in D.C. in 1989. Started my own Firm in 1995 in Leesburg. I have bred and raised racehorses, currently raise beef cattle and try to keep my bees at home! I was raised in a family retail business where everyone from my grandparents to myself other siblings had various duties. I believe strongly in the virtues of self employment and self sufficiency.

How did you get started?
I am a very proud native 7th generation Northern Virginian. But I had to get out of there!! After working for KPMG Peat Marwick at 20th and M in D.C., and Panel Kerr Forster in Alexandria, I decided in 1995 I had to get outside the captial beltway. I started an office in Leesburg in the fall of 1995. Bought a farm in Culpeper in 1999 and totally moved operations to that homestead by 2012.
