About this pro

I have helped thousands over the years with tax and financial planning.  Reviews of prior years returns often result in filing amended income tax returns which result in refunds.

I am an analytic sort, and I dig deep to get information that the client may overlook or be aware of the potential deduction.

From initial contact, Mark conducts himself in a professional manner. I continue to remain satisfied with the tax preparation Mark did for me. From reviewing my 2015, 2016, and 2017 filings and working on my 2018 filing, I could not be happier with the results. I highly recommend working with Mark and will continue to use his services in the future. I will continue to make recommendations to friends and colleagues to use Mark as an accountant.

Mark has been great to work with. He responded within a few short hours to my request for help and left a detailed voicemail when I couldn’t answer the phone. Mark responds quickly, gets the job done with little effort on your part (thank goodness!). He is now our CPA, nice to know we can call someone we can trust and get an answer immediately. So glad we found Thervo and gave it a go!

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I meet with the new client and gather their information, then prepare their returns.  I review the prior three years returns in order to determine if any prior opportunuties were missed for which an amended return may be filed.  I provide tax saving advice along the way.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a member of the AICPA, and the AICPA Tax Section.  Additionally, I am a member of several state societies.  Each year I spend about 50-60 on refreshing my knowledge as tax and accounting guidance changes.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with mostly couples, small businesses (up to $5M in revenue, trusts and estates).

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?

First, make sure of their credentials.  CPAs can be verified through the state board of accounting or CPAVerify.org.  Unfortunately, there are some bad actors out there that are not in fact Certified Public Accountants.  Make sure of the credentials.

What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?

Is this a transaction (jsut tax preparation) or a relationship that is being built.
