About

My name is Sara Collins and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. My specialty is working with couples and individuals who are dealing with relationship issues. Because I am committed to helping people feel empowered and confident in their ability to navigate the most important relationships in their lives, I have trained with the most respected and influential psychologists in the nation.

My specialty IS relationships.

If you are considering setting up an appointment, but would like to speak with me first, I offer a complementary 15-minute initial phone consultation. Since finding time to schedule counseling might be challenging, in addition to weekday appointments, I also offer appointments on Saturdays and late evenings.

The value of a strong, fulfilling, relationship is undeniable: you get love, companionship, adventure, affection, stability, and even better health. For marriages to survive and for long-term relationships to flourish, couples must have education, support and practical tools. One of the most enjoyable aspects of the work I do is witnessing a couple strengthen their connection and deepen their intimacy by implementing these tools.

Therapy can be challenging and yet immensely empowering. It is a tremendous honor to help the couples and families who step into my office and I find the work absolutely rewarding.

Working with couples is one of my professional passions. I have extensive experience and training to support you as you develop the relationship you want.

Here are some helpful questions to ask your insurer:

•Do I have mental health coverage for an out-of-network provider?

•Do I have a yearly deductible I must meet before being eligible to receive benefits?

•How many sessions are allowed per calendar year?

I have extensive experience and advanced training in working with individuals and couples who are facing relationship difficulties. I also work with people who are facing challenges stemming from stress and anxiety, sadness and depression, parenting concerns, grief and loss, perfectionism, and trauma.

Everyone goes through challenging situations in life, and while you may have successfully navigated through other difficulties you've faced, there's nothing wrong with seeking out extra support when you need it. In fact, therapy is for people who have enough self-awareness to realize they need a helping hand, and that is something to be admired. You are taking responsibility by accepting where you're at in life and making a commitment to change the situation by seeking therapy.

    Some questions to ask:

•Are you a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist?

•What is your specialization and how many clients are you currently seeing that fit this specialty?

•How many years have you been a therapist?

•I have been feeling (anxious, tense, depressed, etc.) and I'm having problems (with my job, my relationships, eating, sleeping, etc.). What experience do you have helping people with these types of problems?

•What are your areas of expertise when it comes to the issues you’ve helped couples resolve?

•What kinds of techniques do you use, and have they been proven effective for dealing with my kind of problem or issue?

Taking the first step to seek out therapy means you have already made several observations about yourself. You may notice that you are at a place in your life where your days feel more difficult than usual and your relationships with others may be suffering.
