About

Investment planning is a values based endeavor. I start by listening. Before any advice is given, it is essential that I understand what is important to you. If you're not sure where to even begin, then I'll help you define those element as well.

Together, we review the things that you value related to money. We define your goals, objectives, and interests. With that understanding, I work with you to implement strategies and investments that help you accomplish your goals.

I work as a fee-based advisor. That means that I don't sell things. I'm not under some quota nor do I have a firm or product objective. I work for you and your interests only. I don't charge a fee up front - our initial conversation is just that - a conversation. If we decide to work together then management fees are taken quarterly from the assets I manage for you.

My firm is a Registered Investment Advisor, an "RIA" with no proprietary investment products to push, no commissions to earn, no agenda to mandate. I manage your money through Charles Schwab and Co. - one of the largest and most cost effective investment banks in the world.

Financial success is not magic, but it does take thoughtful, specific and direct action which is the focus of my practice. Whether you are a long time investor or have new assets from an estate, a retirement or life insurance policy - I can help you make decisions to protect what you have and create a structure that helps you meet your goals. Call me - I'd like to get to know you and learn about the things that you value.

Ive worked with Todd Sirrine for several years now and find him to be extremely knowledgeable and very willing to educate me on what I dont know about the financial markets as well as listening to my ideas as to what might be good investments. Hes very available and willing to chat with me whenever I have a question. Ive worked with other financial advisors in the past, some working for the top investment companies but none of them have been as helpful as Todd has with Colwyn Investments. Ive already recommended him to my friends.

Todd is personable and knowledgeable. I feel confident that he will do the best he can to help our future finances to meet our goals. He follows through with he says he will do and keeps us informed of trends and pitfalls. I am trusting him with my retirement, and so far he has met all of my expectations.

We start by listening. Before any advice is given, it is essential that we understand what is important to you. Together, we review your objectives, risk tolerance and time horizon. Once we understand your “complete picture” we can effectively implement your investment strategy to work toward accomplishing your goals.

I am an Investment Advisor with 30 years of business and financial services experience with expertise in risk management, investment analysis and financial planning. I hold an MBA with an emphasis in technology and a Bachelor's degree in business and management. Born and raised in southeastern Idaho, I learned early on that opportunity comes directly from hard work and consistent effort. After a church mission to Taiwan, I worked in the financial services industry for many years, primarily with Citigroup in their mergers and acquisitions area. I also do consulting and business transformation work with IBM. After becoming an independent advisor, I use my banking, business and technology experience everyday to help others make better decisions about investments and financial planning. I have a keen interest in helping people be successful in building and expanding those things they value most.

There is no cost for the initial consultation and after that if we decide to work together, advisory fees are drawn from your investment account at the rate of roughly 0.375% quarterly against the assets managed on your behalf.
I started in this business specifically to help people. In managing my own finances I was really surprised how difficult it was to get candid, competent advice that didn't have a sales pitch buried inside of it. I also didn't like how some advisors or firm made you feel foolish about not understanding something. Conversations with me are open, thoughtful and focused on you.
I work with all kinds of people but my core focus tends to be women and men who either built a strong asset base over time or have sudden wealth that must be protected due to the death of a spouse or parent.
I love helping people build assets that produce cashflow. Charles and his wife had recently sold a home and needed cashflow to supplement their retirement but still wanted to leave something for their family. I steered them away from annuities as they are expensive and they would lose control of the asset. Using structured notes and indexed bonds we accomplished what was needed but they still have full flexibility and ownership of their assets. Their portfolio produces more fixed income cash than they need and they don't have to spend down their asset base.
The right advisor for you is one based on a relationship of trust, an expectation of competence, and the level of access that you need. You have to like the person. How did you feel talking with them? Did everything make sense? Any topic that was unclear? You should never feel pressured or rushed. Also, check out brokercheck.org to validate their history, the status of their license, and if any complaints have ever been filed against them or their firm.
Find your "why". Start to identify your personal investing "why" by asking yourself questions about money and what you’d most like to do with it or feel because of it. If you keep asking, you’ll eventually end up with an answer that expresses the "why" that underlies your investing motivation. Here are some examples to help define your investing "why". Use these questions as a starting point. • Why is money important to me? • If I had all the money I wanted: - What would I do? - What would I have? - How would I change or impact the world? • What do I want to get from investing? Defining your "why" ensures that you are investing in and for the things that you value most. I have a great booklet that I can give you produced by Charles Schwab & Co. that helps you think through this. If you'd like one, please reach out and I'll get one to you.
