Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I sit with the client and review their documents. Ask pertinent questions on their specific circumstances and only then work on their needs. I will ask additional questions as needed to provide them with the quality of service that they deserve.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelors in Business Adminstration along with additional annual education in accounting and taxes. I work with a CPA regularly to maintain proficency and professional standards and ethics.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Accounting monthly starts $125/month for 1 account and 50 transactions (includes quarterly business tax forms)
1040 is $150 (includes state return)
Schedule A $50
other schedules are available as needed (ask for pricing)
1120s $400 (price can vary based upon complexity of return)
1065 starts $400 (price can vary based upon complexity of return)
How did you get started in this business?
I have worked on my own business (not accounting) for 25 years. I felt the need to offer accounting services to others as a way to pay it forward. I have found a way to do this without the costly overhead of some of the national chains. My desire is to serve my clients most of all.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have a variety of clients in a variety of fields. I have business accounting and tax preparation clients along with individuals. Most of my clients reside close to me, but I have a few that travel over 100 miles so that I can help them.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I also work with emergency communications. I recently helped with the communications on a 100 mile foot race. This helps me to work with others, be organized, be prepared for the unexpected, and enjoy meeting new people.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
When you look for an accountant, you need someone that understands the end result. We maintain books to keep track of income and expenses for 1) the score of the business 2) for taxes. The score shows that we are winning or losing and how to improve.
With tax preparation, you need someone that is knowledgeable on the topic. Someone that cares enough to be educated and tested on the topic regularly. I have passed tests given by the IRS to show proficency in tax prep.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
With any accounting or tax preparation, the client needs to have the documents to show their financial position. Hand written documents can also help. They need to be able to answer questions posed by the pro while he/she works. Being prepared will make the process easier.
