Mental Health Coaching With Val Catt, Health Psychologist @NCOei.org Anger Management Specialists
About
I am a health psychologist and certified master mental health coach @NCOei.org. I specialize in mental health coaching for a variety of issues: depression, anxiety, stress, anger/rage, bullying, divorce/breakup and healthy relationships. I focus on cognitive and emotion focused processes. The idea is to master your mental faculties or mental processes: thoughts, thought patterns, bleif systems and understand the purpose and use of emotions. This mental health process is designed to provide clarity of thought and give you a greater inner awareness of your thoughts and habitual thought patterns. The goal is to feel confident and good no matter what by caring a lot about how you feel.
Understanding the dynamics between the conscious and sub-conscious mind is an energizing process filled with "a-ha" moments, which results in greater awareness and understanding of you and your friends and family. We are all learning and growing and there is no such a thing as "mistakes" - only opportunities to learn and continue growing. I really enjoy explaining how the mind creates emotions and how the imagination can work for you or against you. Mastering your mental faculties is an empowering, confidence building process.

What types of customers have you worked with?
I have coached both juveniles and adults of all ages and all different types of issues such as anxiety, depression, anger/rage, bullying, self image, break up and divorce, healthy relationships and more.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently, I discovered that Bob Proctor's Born Rich seminar is now free on YouTube. This is the most amazing self help seminar I have ever seen. I highly recommend! I have also created an online course and a hybrid program called Life Enrichment/Life Skills which is very popular in court systems across the nation. The course distinguishes between success consciousness and crisis mentality/lack-based mentality and is available at NCOei.org
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
My advice when looking to hire a mental health pro is to go with your intuition and your instinct. Follow your feelings, if the session/interaction with your psychologist is uplifting, inspiring, motivating and most importantly, leaves you with a feeling of clarity, then you have a winner.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Ask about the psychologist's preferred methods of treatment for the different issues that you are facing. Ask about the psychologist's experience and what types of self help that they personally prefer. Pay close attention to your own feelings when questioning your psychologist; sometimes, it's just not a good fit and there's no good reason why--always go with how you feel.
