About this pro

Hi!  I have been a Clinical Social Worker with a MSW from Our Lady of the Lake University for 20+ years and have worked with all ages and a diverse clientele over the years. Currently I am licensed in Indiana & Texas where I currently have a private practice.

I now specialize in working with adults seeking help for depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and domestic violence. In addition, I offer marriage, pre-marital and couples counseling as well as Christian counseling.  Clients tell me they like that I interact with them (I ask a lot of questions and even talk a lot); I often use humor during sessions, and I do give “homework.”   I use a lot of CBT since we know that what you tell yourself, whether true or not, is what you believe and act on - which means you and I get to examine those core beliefs and make sure you know the truth about yourself.  I also utilize psychoanalysis since I believe what happened to you in the past can tell us a lot about what's going on in your life today.   I also offer EMDR and other techniques to deal with trauma.

If you are nervous at your first appointment, you won’t be nervous by the time you leave!  I offer day and evening hours and am a provider for many insurance companies.

I love what I do because I have the privilege of helping people make positive and lasting changes in their lives.  One client told me this week that she didn’t know therapy was addictive!  My favorite part of therapy is helping clients discover WHO they really are, what they really CAN do,  and teaching them to change their negative thinking into positive (good-bye inner critic and self-sabotage)! And my greatest joy is watching couples learn not only better ways to communicate but how to meet each others’ needs and have a better marriage for years to come. If you are seeking a healthier and more satisfying life free of fear, depression or anxiety, or you and your spouse want to rekindle what you once had (this is definitely possible), I would love to talk with you.  Therapy is hard work, but it can change your life.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Clients call me directly to schedule their first session.  During this initial telephone call, I will get the client's email address and email the documents needed so that the client can complete the documnts ahead of time and bring them to the initial appointment.  Other details may be given if the appointment is scheduled during evening hours or on Saturdays.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a Master"s of Social Work degree from Our Lady of the Lake University.  I also am certified in grief therapy, pastoral counseling, Gottman Level One marriage counseling, and I am trained in EMDR for trauma.  In addition, I have expertise and special training in Domestic Violence and survivors of sexual abuse.
