About
Do you feel there is more to life? Are you in search of something that is honorable and meaningful?
Hello, my name is Luis Cavazos. I am an author, speaker, and an empowerment coach. I was voted Best Author of San Antonio in 2018. And, I was voted Best Speaker in 2018 by my local chapter in Toastmasters. Lastly, in 2020, I was awarded with Author of the Year and Best Mental Health Advocate. Nonetheless, my professional career started in 2014 as a licensed professional counselor at a mental hospital and in several mental health clinics. My passion grew heavily when I noticed individuals were in search of meaning. You see, today, our mental health system focuses too much on a model of labels. We neglect the pathways that shape an individual’s culture, beliefs, and their branches of freedom.
After working five years in the mental health field, I felt it was not meeting my heart. I felt this urgency to divorce from the conformity of labeling people. It was at that moment where I yielded to empowerment coaching using existential and Gestalt techniques.
You may be wondering, what is existential and Gestalt? Existential is our relation to life. It gears toward meaning, courage, and responsibility. Gestalt is the awareness of the experience. It is then we ask, “How is my body responding to this situation?” “Why is my heart beating faster?” “Why do I feel there is unfinished business with my relationship?” By directing the bodily sensations with contact boundaries such as expression, exposure, meaning, and I-we thou, we can successfully explore where it is you feel stuck or where you feel anxious.
My coaching sessions focus heavily on your personhood. What does that mean? It means I focus on where you are in your journey. Through assessments, worksheets, role-playing, and homework, we will engineer a life that opens new meaning and opportunities for you to flourish.
Are you ready to take the next step towards a meaningful life? Book a session with me. At large, we will gain insight and maturely pass on through the next stage of personal growth.
What I enjoy the most is helping people navigate through the complexities of life. We often tell ourselves stories on how we are not capable to reach human flourishment. I am here to say, that through responsibility and courage, an individual can easily adopt a new mindset, one that gazes through a new search of knowledge.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
In a first session, often, I get to know them in terms of their background, their culture, beliefs, their formative years, and listening to their jounrey towards personal growth. Onward, we explore the givens of existence which consist of courage, responsibility, meaning, purpose, and the relation to life. I take an existential form, meaning I examine where the person is and I tie it to their long-term goal.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a masters degree in clinical mental health counseling. I have six years of training in behavioral, cognitive, and existentialism.

How did you get started in this business?
I got started when I left working for mental health clinics. I felt it wasn't meeting my needs in terms of knowing a person for who they are. Today, we live in a rigid culture of labels and diagnosis. I perfer to see the individual as a whole, meeting them at the entrance of growth and insight.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with individuals who have anxiety, depression, panic attacks, confused about one's life, confused about their career, I have also helped couples renew their love through empathy, connection, and vulnerability. Lastly, I have worked with individuals who experienced loss in their family circle or friends.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am fond of opera musical shows. It taps into the unconscious dilemma between beauty, love, sadness, and meaning.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
The advice I would give is, hire someone who is qualified and is eager to listen and flexible to work with. I have seen multiple life coaches interrupt client's using fillers or saying stuff like, "Oh yeah, me too. Not a big deal." To me, you are discounting the personhood of the individual who is openly expressing themselves.
