What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We first get to know what a customer is wanting to achieve. What are their goals? What are they looking for in a CPA & Advisor. We then develop a plan, together with the client, to achieve those goals. We focus on the needs of the client. I take a holistic approach, using tax strategies and passive investment philosophy to develop the perfect plan to fit a client’s needs.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a licensed CPA and a fee-based Investment Advisor. I have over 8 years experience in the world of tax preparation and accounting. I hold a Masters in Accounting from Liberty University and a MBA from Dallas Baptist University. I am a US Army veteran, having served from 2003 to 2011.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.

For my CPA services, I bill on an hourly rate. However, I know that a person depends on having an idea of an approximate cost of my services. For this reason, I will always let someone know how many hours I expect a project will cost.

As an Investment Advisor, I am fee based. The fee is calculated as a % of assets under management. This means I am a fiduciary and take your interests first. I don't take commissions of investments. It’s all about the best product that fits your risk and life goals. 

How did you get started in this business?

For many years, I was always the person family and friends came to do get their taxes done. As I got older, I recognized that I truly like solving a person’s tax and investment issues. The world is full of "snake oil" salesmen, offering empty promises. To many times hard working people get caught up in these quick buck scams. They end up not knowing what it truly takes to become financially independent. This is where I want to serve. I want to help those people who want to become finically independent.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I work with a lot of Dental practices, Real Estate Entrepreneurs, Small Business, and other high net worth clients. Each of those clients have issues that only a CPA & Advisor who is a specialist in those areas can help. Our firm has all of the knowledge, experience, and offerings that larger firms have. The one difference that no other firm can give you, is our personal touch. I strive to be a Trusted Advisor for all my client’s needs no matter the size. 

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?

Ask any potential "pro" when was the last time they solved _____. Fill in the blank what ever issue that you need solved. If they can't tell you a straight answer or give you a referrel of someone who can, then find someone else.

What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?

A lot of technology can help with the data entry portion. You still need somebody to help orchestrate and put all the pieces together. Think about how much time do you want back in your life. Sure, you may be able to do a lot of things by yourself. But you have to ask if your time is better spend making money inside your business, instead of doing the tasks that require a true understanding of all the working parts when it comes to tax and investments.
