Bookkeeping Rescue Services is just what the name implies: a service dedicated to saving businesses from financial disaster because of poor or neglected bookkeeping. The financial records of a company are often left in terrible shape when an accountant leaves, which sometimes has a devastating effect on other aspects of the business. Melissa’s goal is to stop that devastation before it happens. Her process is simple: clean up and maintain the books, set up financial services if necessary, and provide useful advice based on her knowledge and years of experience. Although she has her head in numbers often, Bookkeeping Rescue Services isn’t about the books themselves. It’s about the trusting relationship created between Melissa and her clients. She is truly invested in helping her clients run successful and profitable businesses, and she’s very good at what she does.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 122 hours toward my accounting degree at University of Houston and two decades of working as an accountant at small to medium sized businesses, as well as almost 4 years with my current business. I am highy proficient in Quickbooks and am Certified Advanced with Quickbooks Online.

How did you get started in this business?
For over fifteen years, I worked for various companies and business owners as a bookkeeper. Although Iloved the work, I wanted to branch out on my own. Houston has long been known as a strong financial hub in the South, and she found that there was a great need for skillful and honest bookkeepers. I began picking up her own clients, and Bookkeeping Rescue Services was born.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Oh my! Language & Translation firms, high end antique stores, photobooth companies, dance instruction companies, large IT firms, MLM sellers, General Contractors, & Subcontractors.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Do your research! Make sure they have reviews and definitely check their LinkedIn to confirm their qualifications & experience!
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Get out copies of your bank & credit card statements. Write down your transaction volume & estimated annual revenue. Think about what all you want to give over to the bookkeeper (hint--as much as possible). If you are just starting out, look at a core/very basic plan, and with a good bookkeeper, your business will grow and you can let us take on more and more work so you can focus on building your business!
