Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When I first get to know a client, we discuss what has gotten in their way, what is causing distress. We collaborate on determining a treatment plan, skills they want to learn habits they want to change, and together we set out a time line toward achieving these goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned a PhD in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis in multi-Cultural and Community Psychology. Today this translates into a practice where the majority of my clients are neuro-diverse, in particular people on the spectrum and those with giftedness.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with parents of children as young as 2 years old, kids, teens, young adults, and the elderly. I love working with people on the Autism Spectrum, gifted individuals, and other non-neurotypical people. I enjoy working with those that see the world in a different way.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
One of my mentors once said, "If the client is having fun in therapy, the therapist isn't doing their job." Which was to say, therapy is hard work. Change isn't easy, and if you want things to get better, you have to do the hard work first.
