About

My therapeutic stance is a collaborative effort, not one which involves telling clients what to do. Individuals over the course of their life create stories about themselves, which dominate our world view. These world views are often problem saturated and I assist them in helping them externalize the problem. This is accomplished when they realize that “the person is not the problem, the problem is the problem”. My mission is to help my clients re-write their negative stories in which they have created about themselves and have them create a new positive identity that minimizes their issues and helps them achieve their full potential as a human being.

Collaborating with people by guiding them to take steps towards self-actualization and achieve positive, long lasting change in their lives.

Frequently asked questions

The Interview Stage-The client(s) shares their life story with me and tells me EVERYTHING that is relevant to the current issue they are experiencing. I will ask many questions during this phase of treatment. For example, questions will be asked about the person(s) psychological, emotional, behavioral, social, occupational, educational, medical, financial, drug/alcohol, physical/emotional abuse, grief, trauma or anything else that is relevant to the person(s) life story. The more I know about you, the more likely treatment will be effective.

*Note: You should talk about the things you don’t want to talk about. If you don’t want to talk about it that means it’s probably important.

Feedback/Suggestion Phase-In this stage, I believe it is most important for me to define what the definition of ADVICE is in a therapeutic setting. As a therapist, I will never tell you what to do. That is the job of a coach, not a therapist. However, I will provide you with feedback and suggestions. So, what’s the difference? The difference is that you make the final decision yourself. I provide you with alternative choices and different viewpoints, but you decide which choices and viewpoints work best for you. After all, who knows you better than yourself? There are multiple ways to reach your destination, but you must choose the direction that works best for you.

Completion Stage-Therapy is successful when the client(s) life has improved and they are satisfied with the life they have CHOSEN. Problems in life often reoccur, so it is not uncommon to experience these issue in cycles. Hopefully, I can help you achieve more happiness and satisfaction by guiding you in breaking these cycles and achieving a direction towards an optimal life and self.
