About

I have over 30 years experience preparing tax returns, and have seen a lot of different things over the years. I have worked with business owners. farmers, investors (including day-traders), ministers, members of exempt religious orders, landlords, medical professionals, and attorneys. I also have experience with the unique situations related to foreign-source income, foreign tax credits, US citizens livng abroad, and non-US citizens who are legally living in the USA. (I do NOT do tax returns for illegal aliens.)

I can help with traditional 1040 and state returns, partnership, S-corporation, and C-corporation returns. I can also help you with IRS letters, audits, penalty abatement, and completing past year's tax returns.

My work history includes being an instructor at two state universities, and working for Ernst & Young (one of the "Big 4" firms) on their tax staff. I find that I prefer the small-town setting that I am currenly in, while I can still help people living in big cities by utilizing the modern convenience of e-mail and overnight delivery.

My undergraduate degrees are in math and chemistry (Western Kentucky University), and I have Masters of Accounting from the University of Kentucky. I passed the CPA exam on the first attempt, and hold a current Kentukcy license, which is recognized by 48 other states (not Hawaii). Yoy may verify my current license credentials by visting this site: https://secure.kentucky.gov/FormServices/CPA/LicenseRenewal/Search

I enjoy the unique set of circumstances that each person brings to the tax return situation. I like helping people solve their tax problems.

    Frequently asked questions

Because of tax fruad schemes out there, I am required to confirm a new customer's identity (driver's license is sufficieint for that).  From there, I look over tax documents that you have (W-2, 1099, investment records, etc.), and ask you questions about your personal tax situation . . . do you have children, are you married, what type of business/work do you do, etc.

My father, an attorney, was doing tax returns as part of his practice.  I learned from him, then later went to college for the "official" education.

Hire a true tax professional.  The cost to hire a CPA is usually no higher than going to one of the "retail" tax places.
