About

My own family and church experience led me to a lifelong study of religion and psychology. I've worked and served in an array of endeavors including retail, marketing, publishing and as a lay counselor, worship leader, non-profit arts association founder and touring recording artist. I have been a professional licensed master's level therapist, now, for over a decade.

My greatest joy is helping you find and use your own authentic voice and enjoy your life to the fullest.

I had a great experience working with Jennifer. She offered much needed perspective on issues I was having within my personal relationships. She helped me start to trust my own judgment and feelings which gave me the confidence to make some big changes in my life. I enjoyed the exercises and homework she suggested as well as the reading she recommended. I am definitely grateful to Jennifer.

She is easy to talk to, knowledgeable, and appears to have a genuine understanding of why I feel the need to see a therapist.

Jennifer is extremely knowledgeable on many different types of treatments and therapies and is also very compassionate in her care. She genuinely listens and wants to help and makes herself available for times in between. She’s been instrumental in helping me overcome anxiety and I look forward to my success with so much of her help!

She’s incredibly non-judgmental and never makes me feel like what I have to say is weird or out of place. She genuinely cares about me and takes extra time to make sure that I’m ok on both good days and bad days. Overall, I would say that her patience, good humor, and skill with deciphering behavioral patterns has led me to feel in control of myself, and much healthier across the board.

    Frequently asked questions

I offer a free initial 5-10 min. phone session to determine focus and fit.  I work with each client differently depending on the client's goal. I do like to give homework and other resources (book suggestions, etc.) - if a client wants it. The first full session will be more fact-finding and clarifying the client's goal. Counseling clients are encouraged to remain in treatment for at least 6 sessions to get the best outcome.

I earned my bachelor's degree in Communication and Human Relations at the State University of New York at Brockport, New York, and a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee.  I completed rigorous testing and requirements to become a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of Tennessee. To enhance and inform my trauma and addiction work, I became a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) trained by the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP). I am also an EMDR I trained clinician. I am a Clinical Fellow member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.

I offer a free 10 to 15-minute initial consultation to be sure that I am a good fit for you. Your first 60-minute intake session is $120.00. After that, each 50-minute session is $100.00. I recommend a minimum of six sessions.  I do not take insurance at this time however I can provide you with a superbill that you can provide to your insurance company for possible reimbursements. Please let me know any extenuating circumstances that might make the cost prohibitive and I will see what I can do to help.

Starting at the age of 12, I found myself fascinated by the way people thought and behaved. I noticed people struggling and I wanted to understand and help. I found myself especially interested in "the meaning of life" and read as many books as I could find on psychology, spirituality and philosophy. I never lost my interest. I am now doing the work that I always imagined.

I help individuals and couples (adults and motivated adolescents).  I worked for several years with men and women one-on-one and in group in an intensive mental health and addiction treatment facility treating trauma, addiction, and mood disorders.

My son and daughter-in-law were married last year. It was a beautiful wedding celebration.

To get the best care, always choose a licensed professional because licensed professionals are rigorously trained and must adhere to a very high code of ethics regarding confidentiality and boundaries. This ensures that your privacy is strictly and carefully maintained. Choose a licensed professional who you feel you comfortable with - someone you can trust and who will call you out to be yourself. And, preferably, choose a licensed therapist who will challenge you with honesty and care, so that you can grow and change in the way you want to.

It is best for a client to ask themselves, "What is my goal for counseling? What is my desired outcome? What do I want to have achieved once I complete counseling?"
