    Frequently asked questions

After our first meeting, where we learn all about you and also answer any questions you have, we do customer, market, and competitive research. Our goal is to help you make it easy for customers to find you, understand and appreciate what you sell, and buy from you. We focus on their buying process and what is working for competitors. Then we discuss and agree on what we will work on first, and we set to work. We are constantly experimenting and optimizing; marketing changes quickly these days and new discoveries lead to new leads.

Our founder, Kristin Zhivago, has spent decades as a revenue coach to CEOs and entrepreneurs, mostly in the tech business, but she branched out to help all types of companies when the Web emerged in 1994. She and her Zhivago Partners team have built a stellar, best-of-breed marketing company, comprised of a core infrastructure team and professionals who specialize in various areas. "Marketing shifts quickly now; team members who specialize stay on top of the changes and help us optimize all our efforts for our clients," says Zhivago.

Each client is different; we work with small, medium, and large companies. Pricing varies based on what the client can afford and the services we will apply to their account. Pricing is menu-based so we can change as new opportunities open up. We offer both retainer and project-based services, all agreed to up front and managed tightly.

Zhivago began her career as the first woman to sell machine-shop tools in the U.S., for a Pratt & Whitney distributor in Southern California. She later relocated to Silicon Valley, opened an ad and PR agency in 1979 with her husband, successfully serving clients until 1991. With the introduction of desktop publishing, thanks to the Mac, she decided to start helping clients with their in-house marketing, and began her career as a revenue coach. Her husband retired at age 52 (he's an artist/inventor/engineer and has been "making things" ever since). Zhivago has always loved technology and makes sure that her marketing firm utilizes the latest-yet-proven tech for internal and client efforts.

We work with businesses of all sizes, both Business-to-Business and Business-to-Consumer. We tend to focus on established businesses that want to do a better job of online marketing.

Make sure they can help you grow your business. Vendors who only specialize in one marketing area - e.g., SEO or social - only know what works in that channel. We believe - and have built our company based on this belief - that all options need to be evaluated, including what is working now for your competitors, and where your customers are gathering. Then we test to see what will work for you. Every client is different; there is no such thing as "one size fits all."

    - What gets you up in the morning?

    - What systems have you set up to make sure work gets done?

    - How will I be able to see the results of our efforts?

    - What is working now for other clients, and how could that be applied to our situation (if at all)?

    - What satisfies you the most and what frustrates you the most about your work?

    - Have you ever declined to work with a client? Why?

    - Describe your most succesful clients.
