About

Helping people get unstuck is challenging, but also fulfilling. I have gone through my own struggles and can empathize with others who are in the emotional pain of depression or anxiety.

I earned a master's degree in mental health counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and earned my professional license in Wyoming in 2010 (although now I am licensed in PA). I have been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I am certified in Biblical Counseling by the American Association of Biblical Counselors, and certified in Trauma Counseling by PESI.

    Frequently asked questions

I am an insured Professional Counselor (LPC) licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, which means that I have met and continue to meet all of the requirements of the Commonwealth to advertise my practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor and to practice psychotherapy in this state.  I cannot prescribe medication (I refer my clients to colleagues who can).  I abide by the regulations placed upon LPC’s, LICSW’s, Psychologists, and MFT's by this state.

Different psychotherapists follow different schools of theory and practice.  I am best described as a biblical counselor with an education in psychology who utilizes best practices for treatment.  This means that my theory of the person is based on the Bible, with additional insight from cognitive science, human development, psychodynamics, and social psychology,

I am an Acceptance and Commitment Therapist, but also eclectic in my approach.  The approach that I take depends upon the needs of my client.  For example, research demonstrates that Motivational Interviewing is the most effective approach for treating people with addictions.  Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the best approach for treating people with phobias.  In other words, I use best practice recommendations to treat my clients.
