Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically my patients are referred from other patients, and I do an initial consultation over the phone as they are considering making an appointment. Patients must be comfortable with their treating provider first and foremost.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a practicing anesthesiologist at the Portland VA Medical center since 1998 and became interested in learning about acupuncture in the early 2000's. I became credentialled as an acupuncturist in 2005.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
If patients have insurance which covers acupuncture, I bill for the service according to the established fee schedule. For patients paying cash, my fee is $50 per treatment. For home treatments far from my office, I would consider a travel fee in addition.
How did you get started in this business?
2005
What types of customers have you worked with?
Patients with sports injuries, fertility issues, gynecological issues, musculoskeletal problems/pains, chronic pain, recovery from injury/surgery, cancer patients, hospice...
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I enjoy teaching patients how to take better care and maintainence of themselves so that they don't need to seek medical help as often, and they can enjoy their life to its fullest.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Take the time to find a practitioner who inspires your trust. This may take a few attempts. Do not give up.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
How motivated are you to participate in your healing?
