Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to get an understanding of my client's tax situation. I will walk through the sources of income and deductions available to them as well as any concerns or interesting/unique situations and circumstances the client has. This helps establish the best possible scenario and results for my clients.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a CPA with a Masters in Accounting specializing in tax from Ohio State University. I have over 12 years of professional experience with some of the largest and most respected CPA firms in the United States. I am currently the Tax Manager for a family office helping safeguard the financial assets for future generations.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Fees are dependent on the facts and circumstances of the client's tax situation.
How did you get started in this business?
In high school we had a class where we drew random "life" facts out of a hat at random to act out a fictional future. I happened to pull CPA as mine, and it sparked an interest in finding out more about what that was. From there I went to college and learned quickly that it would be a hard working but rewarding career. Both financially, and in the ability I would have to make a real impact on people's lives by bettering their tax situation.
What types of customers have you worked with?
A broad range from simple W-2 filings to multi-billion dollar mega corporations.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Find someone that will take the time to understand your circumstances and concerns. Know that if they aren't taking the time to understand you, they aren't going to likely have your best interests in mind. This will probably end with you not getting the best possible tax results.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What are my circumstances? What new events did I have this year (new child, new job, new startup, death of a relative with an inheritence, relocation, bought a house, etc.)?
