About
My service stands because, to me, the words are as important as the images. Our projects combine smart thinking and marketing ideas with good writing and evocative illustration and photography. One of our largest clients likes to call us, "The boutique alternative to the global agencies." I will put together a team dedicated to one thing: differentiating your business and helping it succeed.
I enjoy developing and completing projects that make a big difference to our clients. We don't just crank out stuff to make money. We are devoted to coming up with olutions that are beyond the expected and that position our clients as leaders in their field.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
1. Research the customer's organization, industry and competitors to get a clear picture of where they stand.
2. If appropriate, do a "plain-talk survey" to find out how their customers, donors or others in their potential audience feel about them — in order to truly understand the problem, situation, or need — and begin devising solutions. Share that information in a short report.
3. Depending on the project and situation, propose alternative solutions. Get input from the client. Keep in regular communication with the client.
4. Refine the selected direction. If appropriate, work with outside talent including photographers to get the right images to tell the client's unique story. Prepare files for reproduction, manufacturing, posting online .... again, depending on the medium.
5. Supervise production to ensure top quality and timely delivery.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
BA in Design/Media Arts from UCLA.
I have taught corporate design and typography at in undergraduate and graduate programs at Pratt Institute, Parsons School of Design, The School of Visual Arts and SUNY Purchase, and online at HOW Design University.
I know the design and advertising business well. I am the author of two books about successful design and marketing communications (from the client's point of view); am a longtime contributing editor of Printmag.com; and write features and profiles about design firms, ad agencies, and trends in advertising and marketing for Communication Arts magazine.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
My hourly rate ranges from $125 to $175, depending on whether the client is a nonprofit or a large corporation or financial institution. I work quickly and accurately.
However, I'd rather work with a client's budget. I appreciate questions like, "Can you do this (write, design, get it printed or posted) for $5000?" If the project is interesting and the budget is reasonable, I will make it happen.
