Frequently asked questions

I make accessing counseling easy! You can call me or message me.  I will return your message as soon as I can.  You will receive a complimentary Q and A phone call to determine if I am the right counselor for you.

I have a Master's degree in Social Work.  I am a licensed clinical social worker.  I am updating my skills as a therapist to benefit my clients every year.  Some of the certifications I received over the last 15 years are Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Energy Psychology, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique and Yoga Teacher Training.  I am a meditator and a practitioner of mindfulness.

I accept BCBS, Excellus, Aetna, Oscar, Oxford, and United Health.  If I don't take your insurance, please contact me for my standard fee.

I started my private practice in 2016 after working as a Crisis Therapist at Rochester Community Mobile Crisis Team.  Although I enjoyed helping those who are in crisis, I wanted to help clients build a strong foundation with a positive view of Self.  I enjoy building a therapeutic rapport with my clients and value my relationship with each one.

I am an expert in building self-worth, self-love, and positive relationships.  My clients receive individual attention from me as they work through the self-discovery process.

Selecting a therapist is not an easy process!  Just like any relationship, one of the most important qualities you want to look for in a therapist is your comfort.  How do you feel when you talk to your potential therapist?  Pay attention to that.  After you screen the basics, such as credentials, education, training, and approach, what sustains your therapeutic alliance is a chemistry and personality match.  Best wishes in your search.

What is your goal in entering therapy?  Does your potential therapist offer a treatment approach that matches well with what you wish to achieve?  For example, if you are looking to increase coping strategies to reduce stress in your life, psychoanalysis and existential therapy will not do.

How responsive is your potential therapist to your phone calls and messaging?  You will want to work with someone who can respond within a reasonable time-frame.  Check to make sure his or her availability in between sessions.
