Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We typically interface with a client over the phone or through our website's contact form to get a general sense of the service they are looking for and provide an accurate quote. We will then follow up in writing via email to confirm all the details discussed and agreed upon including location, time, contact info, and pricing. Invoices are sent out via Square to be completed by the time of service, but we accept a number of other payment methods for our customer's convenience.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
All representatives of Forest Hills Notary are commissioned Notary Publics in New York state. When we notarize documents for clients, our commission dates and numbers can be found on our stamps/seals.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Our pricing varies based on a number of factors including client location, types of documents to be prepared, and number of signatures to be notarized.
Our service fee typically begins at $85, but we pride ourselves on maintaining competitive rates and are happy to beat any other quotes our clients recieve. If our initial quote is not amenable to you, we are happy to discuss and see if we can offer discounts and find a number you are happy with.
How did you get started in this business?
After having my comission for some time, I found a number of courses that elaborated on the ins and outs of the mobile notary business. After setting up my website and getting my business profiles approved on Google and Yelp, we opened our doors to business from clients.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We are lucky to have worked with both businesses and individuals from all demographics and walks of life.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A number of our clients in our first two weeks of business were Forest Hills locals. It felt extremely motivating to see support and a need for our business from neighbors.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Don't be afraid to ask questions! Notary law contains a number of complexities, as does the preparation of more involved documents like Apostille processing. Additionally, many notaries are happy to be flexible on meeting location or timing if scheduled in advance.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
- What type of documents do you need notarized?
- How many signatures do you need notarized?
- Do you require witnesses? If so, how many and would you require your notary to supply witnesses?
- Where and when would you like to meet?
