About

I love meeting people, exploring how they define their goals, and then diligently working to help them achieve it. I enjoy the process of working together as we can always learn from one another. I have a client-centered approach where I utilize evidence-based treatments to help my clients experience relief, peace, and success.

When it comes to “nature or nurture”, I believe in both. We have genetic memory, meaning traits and personality characteristics can be passed on from generation to generation. We are also conditioned to behave and react as well through our environment and life experiences. Based on research, our behaviors, reactions, and emotions are related to how our brain physically functions. We are triggered in a pre-conscious way to stimuli and I practice techniques and therapies that allow us to intervene at a subconscious level so that we can literally create new responses to the old triggers. Therefore, the old triggers lose their power and you experience freedom from unwanted behavior and habits.

Frequently asked questions

I have over 17 years of experience as a licensed psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, administrator, speaker, and author. I was awarded my post-graduate degree from Fordham University and hold a New York State license in clinical social work.

In addition to traditional psychotherapy, I worked with special needs children for 10 years as a play therapist and family counselor. My qualifications also include 2 certifications in hypnotherapy, advanced certification in hypnoanalysis and regression therapy as well as certificates in Broadband for the Brain, Warriors, Settlers, and Nomads, Relationship Intervention, and Ego State Therapy. I also have training in training in Psychosexual Dysfunction and cognitive behavioral techniques.

I am certified in BrainWorking Recursive Technique (BWRT) for general psychopathology as well as the psychology of identity and behavior. I am a founding member of the British BrainWorking Research Society. My qualifications in BWRT have awarded me the opportunity to mentor BWRT trainees and practitioners in addition to administering certification assessments.

With over 13 years of experience, I am certified in tinnitus treatment and co-author of "Tinnitus: Turning the Volume Down (Revised and Expanded)". I have worked with those suffering from tinnitus (sometimes misspelled tinitus, tinitis, or tinnitis and also referred to as ringing of the ears or ringing in the ears) throughout the United States, Canada, South America, United Kingdom, Denmark, Australia, New Zealand, and Germany. I have presented and have been interviewed on the topic of treating tinnitus effectively in the U.S., England, and Austria.

Fees range from $150-$275, depending on time or initital consultation.

I have always been interested in human nature, behavior, and what makes us all tick.  I enjoy the process of working together.  As we put the pieces of the puzzle together, it only encourages growth and insight.  I know I will always learn from whoever I work with while I work diligently to help improve their lives. We all come to this point with a set of different experiences and genetic memory. As we explore those experiences that influence who you are, I tailor treatment to what works best for you. The beauty in being human is that we can have similar stories or feelings and yet still be so unique in our behavior and perception. I look forward to getting to know you so we can make long lasting positive changes.

I work with people of all ages within my specializations of anxiety, depression, OCD, stress reduction, procrastination, relationships, tinnitus, and chronic illness. I have found that the tools I use are also very effective with ADHD, improved focus, sports enhancement and career advancement.

It ok to ask questions about qualifications, education, practice philiosophy, etc. and always get an answer in a professional manner.  It is your right to know who you might be working with and if they are a good fit for you.  As practitioners we should be happy to provide such information so you can make an informed decision and feel comfortable moving forward.

In reference to finding the "right" therapist for you, questions to ask may include years of experience, whether the practitioner is in full time or part time practice, what percentage of their clients fall into the same issue they are calling about, the practitioner's approach to treatment and how they envision working together.

On a more business standpoint, questions may include the therapist's fee, cancelation policy, and whether or not they take your insurance, including paying out of network.
