Most important is determining what is important to a potential client. Once that is determined, a review of prior returns helps determine where to focus with respect to not only return preparation as well as planning opportunities.

Find someone you feel comfortable with, that will answer your questions respectfully regardless of how silly you feel your questions are.

Why they are looking for an accountant for the first time or looking to make a change, and what is important to them in a professional.
