How did you get started in this business?
My grandfather was an inventor and during the depression/market crash invested in a utility which went belly up. I heard my dad talking about how we was driven to prepschool each semester, until grand dad lost it all and dad had to find a way to school and get a job to support his education.
that always stuck with me and I decided to work in finance and see if I could help people get the best and proper advice for their future.
What types of customers have you worked with?
My clients cover a wide spectrum. I have young people just starting out after getting out of school and I have a lot of middle americans working hard to save for their childrend's eduction and for their comfortable retirement. I also have people who have been fortunate and are very financially sucessful, who still seek me out to help guide their investment decisions.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have been speaking with a publisher to pu together the articles in a book form. We are almost finished and I look forward proudly to publishing this book. I believe it will help many people to unerstand the importance of starting to save early and often and to stay with it in up and down markets. I believe this information will help a lot fo people going forward.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a company in your area of expertise?
Know that everyone in the financial feild calls themselves a financial planner. Be very careful. Most are stockbrokers or captured agents with no formal education in financial planning. Do your homework and make sure they are not just salespeople.
What questions should customers think through before talking to companies about their needs?
Again, where are they now? How did they get there? Are they comfortable with their progress to date? What kind of education/help do they need to focus on the goal of retiring comfortably? Get serious about your own future finances.
